He said the trials include deploying a new technology of using a lentiviral vector to express the FVIII transgene in the patient's own hematopoietic stem cells that will then express FVIII from uniquely differentiated blood cells. Addressing the National Science Day celebrations in Delhi, he expressed hope that the manufacturing of this vector will start soon in India and proceed with further clinical trials.
